Cans Seurat 2007 - Chris Jordan
My favorite image from the collection of Chris Jordan's photography in the gallery would be Cans Seurat 2007. I like this photograph the best because he uses all different soda cans to compose an image of people in a park looking out onto the water lounging in the sun. This image depicts 106,000 aluminum cans, which is the number of cans used in the US every thirty seconds. I like this piece because when you look at it from far away it looks like it could be a picture of a painting or a very pixelated photograph. But as you get closer to the photograph you see that it is composed of a bunch of tiny soda cans. This image is very similar to his Caps Seurat 2011, which is shown on his website under the Running the Numbers: An American Self-Portrait.
