Edward Weston & Ralph Gibson

After watching the films on Edward Weston and Ralph Gibson, I learned a lot about how people can take photographs of nudes. Weston and Gibson seem to have a similar style when taking photographs of nudes. Both photographers like to take pictures of twisting the body or focusing on small sections of the body. Gibson and Weston like to highlight the body in an abstract way. In most of the photographs that Weston and Gibson took they focus on the core of the body instead of the head. In most photographs the models head isn’t even present in the photo. Both photographers print in black and white, but their printing styles are very different. Weston’s work has more of a silver look to it which creates nice highlights in his photographs. He also uses softer tones in his photographs. We learned in Gibson’s video that he likes to print his photos with a higher contrast. I think that Edward Weston and Ralph Gibson both take very nice photographs and they are both very influential people in the world of photography.
